01 March 2008:

"Girls Girls Girls" by Free Bears

The band "Free Bears" has recorded a great new cover version of "Girls Girls Girls" which will be released on 11 April 2008.

This is what the Free Bears say:

"Back in the 70s this has been a No 1 Smash-Hit by SAILOR which really everybody knows from the northpole down to Tazmania has been picked up, assimilated and refreshed without losing the quite nostalgic charme of the song. We simply built in a little rock..n..roll switch, a lot of fun and passion just make it a typical FREE BEARS song. Even Georg Kajanus, formerly SAILOR mastermind and songwriter gave his okay to this version and said: This does justice to the meaning of the song!
Place your order at Amazon or get the song as download at: AOL, I-Tunes, Musicload etc...
Have fun and a good time with that song."

To listen to the song and have a look at the video, check out their
MySpace page
www.myspace.com/freebears
or have a look at their official homepage: www.freebears.net

The Free Bears version is a great new approach to the song, in a different style than previous cover versions by JBO, Krügers Nationalpark etc.

New cover version of "A Glass Of Champagne" by Scooter

News from Georg Kajanus regarding the recent cover of "A Glass Of Champagne" by Scooter for the title track of their next album "Jumping All Over The World" (released 30 November 2007):

"Over a month ago, my publisher, Steve Morris, and I were approached by the techno band Scooter for permission to use a large part of my composition 'A Glass Of Champagne' for the title track of their new album, 'Jumping All Over The World'. Steve and I researched the band, liked a lot of what we heard and gave permission. Scooter are rather unique in the way that they approach covers and I saw this as an opportunity for 'Champagne' to reach a whole new demographic.
I've received many e-mails alerting me to this and I just wanted to thank all the concerned fans out there.  However, please know that this cover was done with my full consent.
Georg Kajanus"

Georg Kajanus (well-known as the original SAILOR lead singer and captain) and Tim Dry (Shock, Tik and Tok) met in 1995 at the Bar Marseilles in Barcelona. Sharing a mutual passion for black clothes, Film Noir and music, they decided to form NOIR.
In 1997, everything moved at a rapid pace, with the promo of NOIR’s "Walking" being featured on "Top Of The Pops 2" and "Live and Kicking" - before the single was even released. Channel 4 seized upon the opportunity for NOIR to host and feature their song "Walking" in four, Eurocentric, gastro-pop videos in their new food programme, "Feast". Georg and Tim also wrote the theme music to the show. Then the London Walking Forum signed NOIR up to produce another "Walking" promo video.
Now NOIR’s debut album obtains its first commercial release and includes on the CD an enhanced CDR promotional video of "Walking".

The NOIR "Strange Desire" CD includes the songs:
Walking, Continental At Heart, Hotel Europa, Dreaming, Travelling, Wings Of Desire, Talking, Sex On The Telephone, Film Noir, Darling, Genie, Neo Noir Walking Mix, Believing, Walking (Triangle Of Forces Mix) + Bonus: Walking Promo Video.

19 September 2006:

New singer: Oliver Marsh

Important Newsflash from SAILOR:
SAILOR - Henry Marsh, Grant Serpell and Phil Pickett are delighted and proud to announce that Henry's son, Oliver Marsh has joined the band replacing Peter Lincoln on lead vocals and guitar. Oliver Marsh

Oliver, 28, has already achieved fantastic success as a star vocalist in such productions as 'The Blues Brothers' which toured all over Germany, and 'The Roy Orbison Story' in which he played both John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen to rave reviews and critical acclaim. Prior to this he impressed many in Phil and Henry's ''Casper The Musical'' which opened in London's West End in 1999. In many ways he was the obvious choice and his impressive vocal range as well as a genuine enthusiasm to become part of the band instantly convinced everyone that Ollie was their man.
''Being part of the SAILOR 'family' was of course an advantage'' says Phil; ''but his youthful energy and amazingly powerful voice knocked spots off all other contenders and he is already becoming a huge asset to the band. I believe Ollie will give SAILOR a whole new lease of life as well as the 'shot in the arm' it needs at this point.''
Grant agrees: ''Henry of course did a fantastic job going over everything with Ollie and although content to leave the final decision to me and Phil, was very confident in his abilities. But you can tell Ollie just loves the songs and the strength and range of his voice will give SAILOR opportunities to expand and improve the live show enormously. I'm thrilled he actually wants to do it!''
Oliver is very excited about his future in SAILOR and makes his debut performance with the band in Munich on 14 October 2006.
